The ingredients needed to make Chicken Haleem:
  1. Get 1/2 cup red lentil (Masoor Daal)
  2. Take 1/2 cup yellow lentil (moong Daal)
  3. Take 1/2 cup Bengal gram (Chaana Daal)
  4. Get 1/2 cup broken wheat (daliya)
  5. Get 1/2 cup rice
  6. Prepare 1 kg chicken boneless
  7. Prepare 2 tsp Garlic paste
  8. Take 2 tsp Ginger paste
  9. Get 1 tbsp green chilli paste
  10. Get 5 oinon sliced
  11. Get 1 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder or to taste
  12. Take 1 tsp turmeric powder
  13. Take to taste Salt
  14. Take Oil for frying
  15. Get Whole Spices (grind)
  16. Make ready 2 tbsp coriander whole
  17. Make ready 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
  18. Prepare 1 tbsp Caraway seeds
  19. Make ready 1 bay leave
  20. Make ready 1 cinnamon stick
  21. Get 2 black cardamom
  22. Make ready 4 green cardamom
  23. Prepare 4 cloves
  24. Take 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  25. Prepare 15 red chilli whole
  26. Prepare Tarka
  27. Get 2 tsp zeera whole
  28. Make ready 6 red chilli whole
  29. Take 1/2 cup oil
  30. Prepare Garnishing
  31. Make ready Green chilli chopped
  32. Take slices Ginger
  33. Prepare Fried oinon
  34. Prepare Lemon
Steps to make Chicken Haleem:
  1. Combine all lentils and wheat grain wash and soak for overnight.
  2. Take soaked lentils in a large bottomed pot.
  3. Add salt ginger garlic paste and green chilli paste and water.
  4. The level of water should be 3 inches above the lentils.
  5. Cook for 2 hours low flame and cover the lid.
  6. When grain are soft and add 2 cup water and to bring grain to room temperature then blend with blender.
  7. Dry roast all spices in a pan and ground into fine powder.
  8. Fry oinon in oil until golden brown. Work in two batches.
  9. In other pot take chicken add oil of remaining from fried oinon.
  10. Fry the chicken add 1 cup water, grounded whole spices, salt,red chilli powder, turmeric powder.
  11. Cover the pot and cook chicken on low heat, until tender.
  12. Remove chicken from gravy and let it cool and shredded the chicken
  13. Add shredded chicken to lentil pot.
  14. Keep stirring wheat, lentil and chicken mixture with wooden spoon for at least 20 minutes until sticky. (Take a taste before tarka and you may adjust spices.)
  15. Heat oil in a pan add red chilli whole and zeera add to haleem pot.
  16. Serve hot with naan and garnishing.
  17. Ready to serve and ENJOY!
